WISTERIA ROW ATTACHED HOUSES
Victoria, BC

Composed of 18 suburban townhouses the project infills a half-acre corner lot formerly occupied by a large early 20th century mansion. Two rows of stacked townhouses are sited to preserve mature trees and allow for generous new landscaping. The two and three-bedroom units each have a front porch entry to foster community connection via the street and to the surrounding landscape. The building are contemporary while incorporating elements inspired by the history of this early suburban neighbourhood. Deeply set windows, shingle cladding, gabled roof form, and porches are adopted from the area’s Craftsman-era character. A restored, gated mortared stone wall is preserved along the southeast perimeter and a footpath connects each house to a landscaped commons and children’s play space.
