VIEW ROYAL TOWN HALL
Designed mainly as a municipal administration building, it also housed a RCMP (police) satellite office and the branch library in spaces that after 10 years or so were converted to expand the office space. The materiality and form of the architecture was intended to express the stature and community pride of this fast-growing town located in a historic, semi-rural area near Victoria. The two storey structure overlooks Portage Park, a forested area at the shore of a harbour. The project anticipates a future civic precinct that, could include expanded public facilities. The Town Hall’s scale and siting were fit into a residential context and achieved within a modest wood-frame construction budget.
